Mrs. Shahla Haque, the Honorary Secretary of the AMU Old Boys’ Association (AMUOBA), Lucknow, is a proud Aligarian who comes from a distinguished family with a rich legacy of public service and politics. Her life reflects a commitment to education, social service, leadership, and the values she imbibed from her family and her alma mater, Aligarh Muslim University.

Family Background: A Legacy of Public Service
Born into a renowned Zamindar family in Muzaffarnagar, Western Uttar Pradesh, Shahla Haque belongs to a family with a distinguished political and social heritage. Her father, Syed Saeeduzzama, served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), Member of Parliament (MP), and State Home Minister during the Congress regime. Her great-grandfather, the late Syed Saeed Murtaza, also served as an MLA, MP, and Cabinet Minister.
Her mother,late Nigar Sayed, hailed from the royal Zamindar (Meer) family of Sahaswan, Badaun. Both her parents were proud Aligs, and their association with Aligarh Muslim University has been an enduring source of inspiration in her life.
Education and Personal Life
Shahla joined Aligarh Muslim University and completed her Bachelor of Arts (Honours). Following her marriage, she pursued B.Ed. and M.Ed., further strengthening her academic qualifications.
A talented sportsperson, she represented her sporting abilities in basketball and volleyball at the state level. Her sporting journey reflects her discipline, determination, and team spirit—qualities that continue to shape her approach to leadership and social engagement.
Her husband, an eye surgeon, from a zamindar family of Qazipur, served as Additional Chief Medical Superintendent with the Indian Railways. Shahla is a proud mother of three sons and one daughter, and she values the importance of family, education, and social responsibility.

Mrs. Shahla Haque has been associated with AMUOBA Lucknow for many years, contributing actively to the association’s activities and initiatives. Her journey within the organisation has included serving as an Executive Member, Joint Secretary, and Honorary Secretary.
Her election as Honorary Secretary marks an important milestone in her association with the organisation. Her dedication, organisational abilities, and commitment to collective efforts have earned her recognition among fellow members.
