AMUOBA Lucknow observes Sir Syed Day – 17 Oct 2021

LUCKNOW: The AMU Old Boys’ Association (AMUOBA), Lucknow, observed the Sir Syed Day here on Sunday. However, owing to Covid- 19 protocols, a large section of the AMU fraternity was not invited for the programme.
Justice Suhail Ejaz Siddiqui, former Judge of Delhi High Court, was the chief guest on the occasion while Prof Shireen Moosvi, department of history, AMU, was the guest of honour along with Dr Anoop Agarwal, president elect of Asia Pacific Trauma Society.
The programme started with Tilawat-e-Quran, followed by a welcome note of the president, Dr Shakil Qidwai, AMUOBA. Dr Qid- wai also gave a brief introduction of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. On this occasion, the yearly magazine Bazm-e-Wafa was released with much fanfare.
The secretary, SM Shoeb, read out his yearly report. He mentioned about different charity work undertaken by the association and also the different online webinars and programmes held by the association.
‘Dastak’ a book compiled by Justice Suhail Ejaz Siddiqui was released by Prof A.A. Fatimi. One of the known Urdu scholars, Prof Fatimi is is former head of the Urdu department, University of Allahabad. AMUOBA has started the honouring senior most Aligs with Stalwart Awards for their services rendered to the com- munity. Khwaja Hasan Askari, Lieutant Colonel Najmul Islam, Er Amaresh Chandra Baghchi and Dr Iqtedar Husain Farooqui were presented with the Stalwarts Awards.
