United Relief Initiative: Strengthening Coordination for Effective Community Support
A joint meeting of NGOs and social organisations was successfully held today in Lucknow under the banner of the “United Relief Initiative.” The objective of this meeting was to enhance coordination and streamline ongoing relief efforts for affected families.
This significant initiative was led by the AMU Old Boys’ Association (AMUOBA), Lucknow, following its appeal on 17 April. The aim was to bring all stakeholders onto a common platform to ensure that relief reaches genuinely deserving families in a fair, transparent, and organised manner.
Participation from Various Organisations
The meeting witnessed active participation from representatives of several organisations, including:
- Parvaaz Foundation
- Lucknow Global Connection (LGC)
- Zakat & Charitable Foundation
- AMP
- Qaumi Ekta Forum
- New Horizons Educational & Welfare Trust
- GEAR
- Muslim Welfare Society
- Awam Welfare Society
Members of AMUOBA Lucknow were also present in strong representation.
Key Observations and Decisions
During the discussion, it was collectively observed that better coordination is essential to avoid duplication of efforts and to ensure that support reaches the rightful beneficiaries.
To strengthen this process:
- A Survey Team has been formed for ground-level verification.
- A Coordination Group has been established to ensure transparency, effective communication, and collaboration among all participating organisations.
It was also decided to temporarily slow down relief distribution for the next 10 days. This pause will allow the ground situation to stabilise and help in designing a more structured and impactful roadmap. However, organisations that have already made prior arrangements may continue their activities as planned.
Planned Distribution (Sunday, 10:30 AM)
As part of the coordinated relief efforts, the following support will be distributed:
- 38 bicycles for girls (to support education and daily mobility)
- 37 bicycles for men (for labour work and delivery services)
- 9 sewing machines for women tailors
- 10 carts (thelas) for street vendors
- 1 wheelchair for a specially-abled individual
- Support for 3–4 small shopkeepers to help restart their businesses
- Financial assistance for 3–4 differently-abled children for medical treatment
- Care kits for pregnant women (covering pre- and post-natal needs)
Conclusion
This collaborative effort marks a significant step toward building a more organised, transparent, and impactful relief system. By working together, we can ensure that every contribution reaches those who need it most.
Let us continue this journey with unity, responsibility, and compassion.
